  Clery Act: Campus Security and Crime Awareness

  Annually, the Director of Human Resources prepares the Campus Security and Crime Awareness Report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act.

  Campus crime, arrest, and referral statistics include those reported to designated college officials and campus police.

  Each year, an email notification is made to all enrolled students stating that this report has been completed and providing the information needed to access this report online. All employees receive similar notifications. Students may obtain printed copies of this report from the office of the Director of Human Resources.

  As required by , the Human Resources Director reports ������Ƶ crime statistics online to the National Campus Crime and Security Survey during the annual collection period of August 17 to October 17. The public may access the online.

  Ownership of Courses: Intellectual Property Policy

  The College is committed to providing an environment that supports the academic activities of its faculty, staff, and students. The College encourages the creation of original works of authorship and the free expression and exchange of ideas. It is the intent of the College to maintain a positive atmosphere for scholarly development by encouraging innovation, discovery of new knowledge, and the dissemination of that knowledge.

  The following statement expresses the College’s policy regarding the ownership of intellectual property in any format.

  Definitions as Used in this Policy Revised November 2013

  1. Intellectual Property: Products of the mind, whether written, oral, electronic, audiovisual, photographic, or prepared through other methods. Such products encompass distance learning courses, textbooks, articles, software, lecture notes, and other material generated by faculty, staff, students, or others at the College as well as those materials generated by others and used by students, staff, faculty, and other College constituents.
  2. Distance Learning Course: Any course primarily delivered in a format not governed by traditional limitations of time and place. Examples include on-line classes, self-paced courses, or any hybrid of these.
  3. Course Developer: An individual who works alone or with others to develop or create a distance learning course, a traditional classroom learning course, or related course materials.
  4. Course Material: Any resources used to create or develop a distance learning course, a traditional classroom learning course, or any hybrid of these. Such resources include, but are not limited to: texts, images, diagrams, graphs, multimedia presentations, instructors’ notes, readings, bibliographies, lectures, simulations, and group projects.

  Creation of Intellectual Property

  Unless otherwise provided in a written statement, the College owns all rights to a copyrightable or patentable work if the following situations exist:

  1. The work (or course material) was created or updated by an employee, whether full-time or part-time, or an outside contractor who was given commission from the College (reassigned time, faculty development grants, special project funds, and other time or money given specifically for development purposes) in the course or scope of employment with the College, and/or the work (or course material) was created or updated by an employee, whether full-time or part-time, using the College’s facilities, time, equipment, or resources.
  2. The developer(s) and the College retain the absolute, unrestricted right in perpetuity to use without charge the course(s) and/or content should the developer(s) leave the employment of the College.
  3. The developed course (or materials) may be offered and taught by any faculty member employed with the College.
  4. The developer is responsible for understanding the “Copyright” and “Fair Use” guidelines and all applicable laws, whether federal, state, or local.
  5. The developer must agree to comply with all institutional rules, policies, course development criteria and/or guidelines, as well as all contracts and licenses.

  Disputes Concerning Ownership of Intellectual Property

  1. The Distance Learning Committee has the authority to resolve disputes or concerns regarding the Intellectual Property Policy at the College.
  2. Resolution of disputes receives approval from the Vice President of Instruction and the President of the College.
  3. Final authority to resolve any and all matters from this policy is vested in the Board as delegated to the President of the College.

  Title IX

  ������Ƶ Title IX Policy

  No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Title VI, Civil Rights Act of 1964

  An Employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Title VII, Civil Rights Act of 1964

  No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Title IX, Education Amendments of 1972

  ������Ƶ strongly encourages all employees and other members of the ������Ƶ community to promptly report concerns regarding suspected or known discrimination/harassment on the basis of sex to the Title IX Coordinator.
